As a former Mortgage Banker and now Real Estate Professional, I am constantly asked what do I need to get qualified for a loan. Honestly, unless the client is not pre-approved by a reputable lender there is no point in taking the client out. Yes, a pre-approval, not a pre-qualification. I proceed to tell the client who is a W2 employee to begin to gather the following: 1. last 30 days paystubs 2. two months bank statements from all checking, savings, and investment accounts 3. last two years tax returns 4. drivers license 5. social security card 6. a letter of explanation of any credit issues. These documents will be given to the loan officer who will submit the information into an automated system and produce a pre-approval. This is the simplest, easiest, and most time efficient way to be qualified. Do not piece meal or forget anything. Just bring the entire package and complete the task. The Rea Estate Professional will welcome you with open arms and be happy to show you the right home for you.
